The spirit of division does not fight fair. Its job is to ensure that we never become one.
It lurks in the shadows of our small disagreements, our differing preferences, and the tiniest of our prejudices. Right when we think that all is well, it springs its trap and wraps its tentacles around fellowships, relationships, and covenants while destroying their very fabric.
God is a God of oneness. The presence of division is an indicator that Christ is absent.
A simple rebuke is not enough. There must be intentional combative efforts employed by believers of Jesus Christ in order to defeat this enemy.
Those combative strategies include
Intentional communion with those whom we feel most at odds with
The will to admit that we have all played a part in the disunity that we see
The fortitude to decide to move past our odds without the apology that we seek
Focus on the cause that we all have been commissioned to fight for, and the sight to see the necessity of unity in achieving it
The acknowledgment of a common foe who will not stop until the foundations of our faith are destroyed, and souls are no longer willing to accept Jesus as their Lord.
Being enlivened to the fact that this race that we run is bigger than us
Recognizing that this duty necessitates the collective sacrifice of all of our resources, gifting, and lives to this noble cause.
The destruction that division has caused in the body of Christ manifests through the difficulties of the world around us, in forms such as hatred, strife, and a combative spirit of the communal human race. There is an all-out war against oneness that causes humanity to rip itself apart by any means necessary.
The body of Christ was commissioned to be the compass that drives society to Christ. However, when the compass itself has been misguided then all of society collapses.
It is time that the Church of Jesus Christ arises with her corporate voice and declares, “We Will Stand As One”.
May the Church of Jesus Christ live long and wreak absolute havoc upon the head of that great dragon called division.
